We started the day off with chapel! Chapel is always a fun, exciting time where we get to worship the Lord through song, prayer and a special message from one of the teachers. Today we learned about Noah and the ark!
Afterwards, we returned to Letterland to meet Clever Cat and Dippy Duck! We played several literacy games to review the sounds that Annie Apple, Bouncy Ben, Clever Cat and Dippy Duck make. The students are loving the Letterland program!
After lunch, we used paints for the first time in Kindergarten. Painting is so fun! I apologize if you find any 'blue' on your child's clothing - it is washable though :) We're making a special book about God's Creation. It should be coming home in early October.
This afternoon we had centers: play dough, lego, puzzles (the focus was for students to work together and cooperate), and.....apple pie making! There are fantastic bakers in the Kindergarten 1 class! Below is a picture of the mini apple pies before they were baked. Don't they look yummy?!
The blue homework folder was sent home tonight with two new literacy activities. Please help your child with this. They have to colour the words that start with C and D. It's important for homework to be taken seriously; this is not just a colouring activity. Have a conversation with your child about why they chose to colour certain pictures and not others. If students are not being encouraged to do their best work at home, they won't be doing their best work at school either. We need to stay consistent :)
Reminders:
• Tomorrow is Open House and Parent Night: Please come check out the classroom and what we have been doing. The mini apple pies will be in the classroom for you to try during the evening :)
• Tomorrow is gym class so please ensure your child is wearing their gym uniform.
Blessings,
Mrs. Marshall
