We started the morning with a Bible story (pictured below): God created the world, and how Adam and Eve disobeyed God. We talked about how we need a Hero to rescue us from sin - Jesus! We have learned the order of creation. Ask you child to show you the actions:
• On day one, God created the light
• On day two, God created the water and the clouds
• On day three, God created the ground, trees, and flowers
• On day four, God created the sun, moon and stars
• On day five, God created the birds and the fish
• On day six, God created the animals and people
• On day seven, God rested.
Afterwards, we worked on our reading stamina (pictured below)- we made it to seven minutes! When we get to 15 minutes of sustained silent reading, we are going to have a blanket fort part. We will make blanket forts, and read books with flashlights.
We also traveled to Letterland and met Uppy Umbrella, Vicky Violet and Walter Walrus. The students love Letterland and often ask me "when do we get to go to Letterland again?" We also learned a new pocket chart poem (pictured below).
One of the most exciting moments of the day was when the students read their first: the word red. We are learning to recognize our colour words. The students were very excited when they realized that they can put the sounds of letters together to make words!
This afternoon, we joined Mrs. Gray's class and learn about the importance of saying please and thank you. We watched this Berenstain Bears video. This is also their homework. Please watch the video again with your child and discuss the question found on their homework form (in their homework folder).
