We started the day off with Reader's Circle. I love watching the students talk about their favourite books. They are learning to love reading, which is amazing to see!
In Math we are learning about order. For example, "which number comes after 0, which number comes before 5, and which number comes between 3 and 5."
Our Mexico Missionaries came to us at lunch today: high school students who are going on the Mexico Missions Trip during spring break. They taught us a Spanish song. We have raised $43 so far for the Mexico building project. We are almost half way to our class goal of $100. If you would like to contribute, you can bring in spare change. I'm trying to teach the students that they can do some work for the money so that they feel like they earned it, and it wasn't just given to them by parents.
In our Bible story today, we learned about Gideon and how God doesn't need a huge army to get the job done. God is powerful and uses ordinary people, just like you and me! We can do anything when God is helping us!
New books are going home today. Please help your child to practice reading it and then bring it back by Thursday so that other students can read it :)
The communication book came home today. Here is the messageDear Mom and Dad,
Today was Reader’s Circle. Thank you for sending a book to school with me and thank you to the parents who volunteered and brought snacks.
This week we are going to start learning about jobs that people do in the community. For example, nurse, mechanic, teacher, lawyer, pastor, custodian, stay at home mom, etc. We would love to have you come to the class to tell us more about what you do! If you are interested, please let Mrs. Marshall know :) Everyone is welcome. Mrs. Marshall wants us to learn as much as possible about different jobs.
Reminders
~ Memory Verse - Obey God because you are His children. 1 Peter 1:14
~ This week is Letter Oo - Oscar Orange and Mr. O.
~ This week is Letter Pp - Peter Puppy
~ Thurs Feb 4 & Fri Feb 5 - Pro D Days
