We have completed our first full day of kindergarten!! How exciting :) Today we learned many things including the following:
• We learned about Letterland, a place where letters come alive. Ask your child about Annie Apple and Bouncy Ben (the two characters that hide behind 'a' and 'b').
• We did printing practice for Aa and Bb. Your child also brought home a homework page to give them more practice. We will continue to practice letter formation tomorrow during class.
• We learned about math tools, like blocks. We also learned how to sky write the number one. These is a worksheet in the blue homework doutang with a song. Please practice this with your child.
• We had some time to play in small groups. During small group play, students are learning a lot about how to interact with other children their age. They must use skills like asking to play with toys, sharing blocks, working together to solve problems, etc. Below are some pictures of what your children were able to create in their groups. They are so creative!
• We brainstormed description words for apples. I forgot to take a picture of this, so stay tuned for a picture :)
• We also practiced what to do during a fire drill. We are having a fire drill tomorrow so I want the students to feel prepared.
• We had our first music class with Miss Chen.
Reminder: Tomorrow is gym class so please come in gym uniform.
Have a great evening!
Love,
Mrs. Marshall
